OGC meeting with Microsoft re UDDI (2/15/2001) - short summary.
* intent of UDDI consortium - desire to be the DNS for web services - 15 core companies to host replicated registries - free access to registry
* scope of UDDI interface - application interface - not HMI oriented - non-sector specific
* version 2 UDDI - currently in editing committee (15) - next is full consortium - release of Version 2 in March - V3 in December - a release contains no more than what can be implemented in 90 days
* geospatial in UDDI - UDDI will not address sector specific issues, e.g., geospatial - the only thing in UDDI re geospatial will be ISO 3166 country code - will have mechanism for pointing to sector taxonomy - they are working with Geo team in Microsoft * layers of service providers for a sector - layer extends core by adding info to core return results - the existence of an additional layer visible in core - who would host a geospatial UDDI registry?
* next steps - version 2 available for WMT 3 - to join consortium: non-disclosure agreement, not cost. - OGC could not extend UDDI NDA to members - individual members would join if they wanted to review V3 before release
* Attendees Doug Nebert Eliot Christian George Percivall Microsoft: - Chris Kurt, Uddi - Eric Kramer, nasa sales - Marjorie Reynolds, E-gov - Holgar? Bell?, Uddi
