OGC meeting with Microsoft re UDDI (2/15/2001) - short summary. 
* intent of UDDI consortium
  - desire to be the DNS for web services 
  - 15 core companies to host replicated registries 
  - free access to registry 
* scope of UDDI interface
  - application interface 
  - not HMI oriented 
  - non-sector specific 
* version 2 UDDI
  - currently in editing committee (15)
  - next is full consortium 
  - release of Version 2 in March 
  - V3 in December 
  - a release contains no more than what can be implemented in 90 days 
* geospatial in UDDI
  - UDDI will not address sector specific issues, e.g., geospatial
  - the only thing in UDDI re geospatial will be ISO 3166 country code 
  - will have mechanism for pointing to sector taxonomy 
  - they are working with Geo team in Microsoft 


* layers of service providers for a sector 
  - layer extends core by adding info to core return results 
  - the existence of an additional layer visible in core 
  - who would host a geospatial UDDI registry? 
* next steps 
  - version 2 available for WMT 3
  - to join consortium: non-disclosure agreement, not cost.
  - OGC could not extend UDDI NDA to members 
  - individual members would join if they wanted to review V3 before release
